Of Note:
'Necessary Evil'
by
Nikki Yanofsky
Nikki
Yanofsky has an edge to her voice that belies her years on this planet. At the mere age of twenty, she released her
fourth album this year, one of the highlights of which is ‘Necessary Evil’. She rose to international prominence during the 2010 Winter
Olympics, singing the game’s theme song, ‘I Believe’.
Though
she’s often pigeon-holed as a jazz singer, she frequently allows her pop side
to shine on through, as is the case here.
Also of interest? At the ripe age of fourteen, Nikki released a tribute
album titled, ‘Ella… Of Thee I Swing’.
Quite the undertaking at any age, if you ask me, but, the kid’s got the chops for it, for
sure.
