Torture Me But Kill Me With Kisses

(1968)

AKA: Straziami ma di baci saziami

When Marino goes to Rome for an event, he certainly does not expect to meet Marisa, who will become the love of his life. But once they find each other, the difficulties begin: first his father opposes it; then after his father's death, gossips make Marino believe that Marisa was no good, and Marisa runs away. Repentant Marino searches for her in vain, and by the time he finds her, she's Mrs. Ciceri. But love admits no obstacles, not even a deaf-mute husband.

This Italian comedy, which parodies Italian photonovels and the popular subculture, was directed by Dino Risi and stars Nino Manfredi, Ugo Tognazzi, and Pamela Tiffin.

Photonovels are a form of sequential storytelling using photographs rather than illustrations for the images, along with the usual comics conventions of narrative text and word balloons containing dialogue. They are sometimes referred to in English as fumetti, photonovels, photoromances, and similar terms. The photographs may be of real people in staged scenes, or posed dolls and other toys on sets.

This film proved to be a great commercial success.

A bourgeois family man falls in love with an uninhibited hippie girl who just wants to have fun and enjoy a libertine lifestyle. She makes him suffer and gives herself to everybody but him. He is so madly in love with her that he even gets in trouble with the police.

This Italian comedy was directed by Mino Guerrini and stars Isabella Rey, Luciano Salce, and Rita Calderone.

Dangerous Kisses

1972

A young psychiatrist falls in love with a female patient who was admitted to the state hospital after killing her unsympathetic man during a quarrel. The psychiatrist, who has been finding his work frustrating and futile, takes off with the woman. After a brief idyll of happiness, he realizes that her mental illness is more serious than he first thought.

Lotte Tarp and Erik Wedersøe

This romantic drama was directed by Henrik Stangerup and stars Lotte Tarp and Erik Wedersøe.

This film was shown at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival.
