Wonderland Burlesque's Down The Rabbit Hole: Alcazar

Wonderland Burlesque's
Down The Rabbit Hole:
Alcazar

Down The Rabbit Hole merely places a spotlight on something slightly unusual that's caught my interest. With the help of Wikipedia, YouTube, and other sites, I gather information and learn something new.

Today, we take a look at Alcazar.

--- --

Alcazar is a Swedish nu-disco pop group who had a string of hit singles during the early 2000s and continue to make the occasional concert appearance to this day.

Alcazar took part in the Melodifestivalen, the competition that selects Sweden's entry in the Eurovision Song Contest a total of three times. In 2003 Not A Sinner, Nor A Saint came third overall, but it became the biggest hit of all the songs in Melodifestivalen 2003 and won the National Finals Song Contest. It became Alcazar's first #1 single in Sweden.

Worldwide, Alcazar sold over 12 million records between 2001 and 2004. Alcazar also had success globally in 2000 with their song Crying at the Discoteque, having charted in USA, Brazil, Australia, Japan and most countries in Europe.

The group took a haitus in 2006, returning in 2007, then disbanded in 2011, making only the occasional appearance since. Initially a trio, they added a fourth member in 2002 before becoming a trio once more in 2005. Members include: Andreas Lundstedt (1998-2005, 2007-2011), Therese "Tess" Merkel (1998-2005, 2007-2011), Annika Kjærgaard (1998-2005), Magnus Carlsson (2002-2005), and Lina Hedlund (2007-2011)
