Pick Of The Week:
I Can't Escape Myself - The Dare
This week? Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
The Dare, aka Harrison Patrick Smith, is back, taking a crack at a mix of two distinctive bands - think of it as Depeche Mode meets INXS - with all the angst intact. It's got a great build, superb vocals and some lovely fireworks which would do even Robert Fripp proud.
Put me in a black box with a strobe light and I would be in heaven.
There's something so visceral about this cut, even though it's rife with a foreboding sense of alienation. Its electric static gaining power, as if the shock of a scream would be enough to wake you from an inescapable nightmare and make you feel human once more.
A musical moment that would have made David Bowie envious.
Bravo and well done... destined to become a classic.

You are absolutely right.
INXS meets Depeche Mode is right! Love the nostalgia.
XOXO
Your musical tastes are very much hit or miss for me and this one is definitely a hit. You didn’t mention the psychedelics towards the end. I’m usually not a fan of psychedelics but the use of them in this song really elevated it to another level. Well done.
XOXO
