Down The Rabbit Hole:
Madleen Kane
Down The Rabbit Hole merely places a spotlight on something slightly unusual that's caught my interest. With the help of Wikipedia, YouTube, and other sites, I gather information and learn something new.
Today, we take a look at the music and history of the sensuously sublime Madleen Kane!

From Wikipedia:
Madleen Kane is a Swedish model and singer. A former Elite fashion model, she worked since age 17 for the German fashion magazine Burda Moden. In the late 1970s, she appeared semi-naked in two issues of Playboy magazine. In addition, she had five top-ten hits on the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
At the age of 20, Kane was discovered by J.C. Friederich, owner of Boona Music productions. She became a popular singer and in 1978 with her debut album Rough Diamond became a global hit. Kane's debut album Rough Diamond, originally released in France by CBS, was issued by Warner Bros. in North America. It quickly became a hit on the Billboard Dance Chart. For this album, she recorded a disco version of C'est si bon.
With the release of her second album, Cheri, in 1979, her singing career took off.
Cheri, was Kane's second CBS/ Warner Bros. release, and featured Forbidden Love, a dramatic "pop-opus". The A-side suite of Forbidden Love, which included the songs Fire In My Heart and Secret Love Affair, gave her another club hit. The whole suite ran over 15 minutes, so an eight minute version was also made available.
At the beginning of the 1980s, Kane moved to Chalet Records, a subsidy of Prelude Records, and released her third album, Sounds Of Love (1980). It featured Cherchez Pas, which was more electronic sounding, as opposed to her usual symphonic, string-laden disco songs. It peaked at #18 in Sweden.
Madleen then worked with producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. In 1981, the single Don't Wanna Lose You, produced by Moroder and Bellotte, helped her album sales via the clubs, however radio play remained elusive. That changed with You Can (also produced by Mororder and Bellotte), the lead single from her next album, Don't Wanna Lose You. You Can spent three weeks atop the Billboard Dance charts and also peaked at #77 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1982. This would prove to be Kane's only entry on that chart.
In 1985, London's Ian Anthony Stephens and Megatone recording artist Paul Parker teamed up to provide Kane with I'm No Angel, her final Billboard dance hit, spun off her final album, Cover Girl.
It was at this point in her life that Kane stepped out of the spotlight in order to devote more time to her family with Chalet Record owner Jean-Claude Friederich. In 2018 she published a memoir, appropriately titled Rough Diamond.
