In the picturesque town of Riverdale, there lived a lad.

Growing up... he'd simply always been there. Part of the gang. Sort of everybody's friend.

Jughead did all he could think of to gain the interest of the ginger of his dreams.

Showing off a bit, as boys do...

Sharing hobbies and things which interested him...

Showing him the ropes... so to speak. 

Some things? Well, boys experiment, don't they.

And some things do cross the line and are not for everyone.

But never fear... 

Jughead's thirst for adventure, his unbridled lust for life, proved just the ticket...

...to win Archie over to his side.

Of course, there was a period of adjustment. This was all so new to our carrot-topped friend.

And even after a box of chocolates failed to prove a clichéd point...

It turned out that Jughead knew all along exactly what Archie was 'going to get'.

As with any newbie, Jughead knew enough to start slowly, to ease in and not overwhelm.

Taking in stride each time Archie turned to panic or showed concern.

In the end (so to speak)...

...perhaps Archie did get more than he bargained for. 

Fortunately, gluttony becomes the young; their appetites frequently so much larger than their stomachs. 

Still, there are limits. 

And sometimes an apology is in order. For not all activities are for all people.

Yes, it was all so new to Archie. And while he wasn't quite on board with the whole thing... there came a turning point; a moment of clarity when enjoyment became a thing shared.

For there are some things in a relationship that are non-negotiable.

And thus the title of today's tale. 

The amazing thing is...

On those occasions when both parties just happen to find such a thing mutually satisfying, why...

That's an instance when both parties get their side of the bread buttered.

Surprisingly, after that apex was achieved, it was Archie who had a desire to formalize things.

Our little fire crotch wanted a traditional relationship; just like all the other youngsters who planned on going to prom together.

And Jughead?

Well, he was only too happy to oblige. Anything for love.

Smitten with each other, they began to plan a life together.

Both determined and more than capable to fulfill the rose-colored dreams of love's aching promise.
