Happy National I Love Horses Day
Yes, it's National I Love Horses Day!
And I, for one, certainly love a good horse... having ridden a few in my lifetime.
That said, I'd like to share with you a few thoughts about 'riding.'
Mounting your horse takes skill. If you're unsure or inexperienced, bring a friend along in order to get a leg up on the situation. Always check your girth! If it’s not snug enough, the saddle can roll when you try to get on.
Swing your right leg up and over the horse’s rump, being careful not to accidentally kick them on the way. And when you lower yourself onto the horse? Do so as gently as possible.
Horses can become awful skittish, especially when working with an inexperienced rider. It's strongly suggested that you wear boots with heels. And, hey! Keep those heels down! They're not full of helium!
Barebacking is still frowned upon, though, in this day and age, to each their own. But be forewarned: it can lead to all sorts of problems down the road for both rider and horse. For your safety? Always wear a helmet!
Make sure you are ready to ride. Be well hydrated. And... be kind. Offer your horse a drink before you begin your journey. Riding in the morning? A nice breakfast of hearty oats will guarantee energy to spare.
Remember: getting there is more than half the pleasure, so be sure to take your time.
Planning out your ride is important, but don't be so rigid that you miss out on life's little side trails. Of course, check in with your horse to make sure they are willing and able. And... if it seems dangerous? Consider the welfare of your horse and stick to the tried and true path... one that will bring you both safely home.
And finally... based on some of the things I can never un-see while researching this particular topic; it's alright to love your horse... just don't 'love' your horse. (Because that's nasty. And illegal.)
Well, there you are, just a few ideas to get you going.
Where ever you may go, whatever you may do... have a great ride!
Yippee ki-yo, yippee ki-yay!
Now, giddy-up, pardner!
Have yourself a lovely time.
The weather here has been so beautiful.
I may never want to live indoors again!

What beautiful, majestic creatures.
Enjoy your day at the prairie!
Fabulous collection! Thanks.
Great post. The last time I rode a horse naked, my balls hurt for a week.
Keep up the entertaining post.
I like horse and have ridden, but never naked. OUCH.
I can think of other things to bare back.
You must have seen some right horrors while finding these photos. I hope you cleared your browsing history afterwards? ;)
