Gay Pulp Fiction, Part 124:
Adonis Classics, Part 8 of 25
Greenleaf Classic Books, the publishers of the Adonis Classics imprint, began in 1959 and continued until 1971, when management lost focus on the business as the government's prosecution for obscenity became a major concern.
By 1974,a new management team and staff were in place, operating out of an office at 7523 Raytheon Road in San Diego and production ceased on all existing imprints. In an attempt to break into mainstream markets, two new imprints were started which used cover art and titles that were not provocative. These efforts failed.
Adonis Classics would release a total of 252 titles during it's lifespan.
The first twenty covers feature white backgrounds (with one exception) and colored drawings or black and white pencil illustrations. After the first two titles, a particular type-face was established, with the title appearing above the illustration. The distinctive Adonis Classics symbol was established with either the seventh or eighth title in the series.
After the first twenty titles, the imprint switched to their iconic red covers (though sometimes pink,) featuring a black and white illustration framed in a black circle which has an arrow attached - a universal sign designating something as 'male.' The book's title at the top of the cover is encased in a white circle with an arrow (the symbol for male.)
Today, we end up with only 60% - six out of ten covers found.

Great title. I love alliteration. And leather. Well, the idea of it. An the smell. It's one of those things as a vegetarian I can't quite reconcile. But, this is hardly the time or place for a discussion about animal ethics.
No, the only animal we're talking about here is of the human variety. The gay clone - porn stash, leather clad, tight/torn jeans, aviator shades? That's become part of our gay DNA. Part of our community identity. It's easy to romanticize and fantasize about, for it's the stuff of many a porn cream dream.
Ahh... just for the smell of it!

Bound By Bikers

Getting tied up by a biker gang? Not on my bucket list, but I could see how it might excite some. This is yet another tried and true porn trope; both in the the hetero and homo world. The idea of this as sexual titillation even spilled over into the world of drive-in, B-movies.
And while I am not aware of one, we all know that gay biker gangs exist... for they typically take part in gay parades. Though they must hang at some watering hole I've never ventured into, for I've never had the pleasure of their company in the flesh.

So, this title would seem to be referring to a young man who seeks out younger men for sexual exploitation. And, from the looks of things on this cover, there's a bit of theatre involved, for there is an audience.
Me? I liked to be watched. It can be fun playing a dirty, used up old cum dumpster.

I do adore a man who just wants to get his rocks off.
At the prairie? They are my favorites. There's none of the usual posturing or chasing. They know what they want. They recognize what you're there for. It's a get down to business without a lot of preliminary nonsense.
It saves a lot of time and energy.
And, no, I'm not sure what the identifying factor is, but with them you know what is and isn't on the table. I believe they're referred to as feeders. Well, I'm fine with being on the receiving end of things.
Like the great George Michael, I'm never one to turn down a free meal.

But this young man seems to be in peril and a bit distressed about it. And I don't know about you, but the moment I see someone wielding a wooden pole and it's not attached to their groin?

Familial relationships! I do understand the allure, though I tell myself it's a line one should never cross in real life. Fact is, my very first wet dream was inspired by my mother's youngest brother - a freckled ginger with a ready smile and a bit of a cowboy - he shoed horses for a living! We were visiting him at his horse ranch. And I think the combination of all those environmental stimuli coupled with my thirteen year-old hormones got the best of me.
At the time? There was much shame, for I had no idea what had just happened.
But from this distance? Well, yes... I can romanticize it.

That said... can someone please explain what is going on with the crotch area of the man being restrained? His package looks like the sex organs of an alien creature.

Bar Buddies

When I think of bar buddies, I can't help but think of that dear gay icon, Buddy Cole.
Remember Buddy Cole? From Kids In The Hall? He's the creation of member Scott Thompson. A typical sketch features Buddy, martini glass held aloft, waxing and waning about his latest sexual exploits, misinterpreting some current event or passing on unasked for advice. He does it all with such style and grace, it's hard not to succumb to his charms.
That's pretty much how I view blogging. This laptop is my barstool, and those of you who venture into this dimly-lit place - well, whatever my mood, you get to listen to me prattle on an on about not much at all.
My advice?
Bring gin.
Everything goes down better with gin. (Especially moi!)
