Acquired Tastes XLIII: Gay Pulp Fiction, Part 181 - Paperback Library

Acquired Tastes XLIII
Gay Pulp Fiction, Part 181
Paperback Library

The Paperback Library imprint was published by Paperback Library, Inc., which operated out of offices at 260 Park Avenue South, New York, NY 10010.

The output of the imprint ran the usual gamut: science fiction, gothic romance, detective, espionage, hetero adult and gay fiction.

The titles we're looking at today all appear to have been published between1964-1966. Many of them are paperback editions of previously published hard cover books, sometimes under an alternative title. As with Pyramid Books, which we took a look at last week, these books are of a higher literary quality than what would pass as gay pulp fiction in the late 60's, early 70's.

These books remain highly collectable, ranging in price between $25-75.

Paperback Library, Inc. was acquired by Kinney National Company and dubbed Warner Books in 1970. It then became known as Grand Central Publishing, once it became an imprint of Hachette Book Group.

Whoa.
Now they have photographs? I don't think I've ever seen one of these one-handed readings with actual photos!

XOXO
