Bathhouse Books
Today, we take a look at Bathhouse Books, an imprint with a very short lifespan. They began publishing titles in 1978 and after sixteen titles, ceased publication that very same year.
Not much is known about them, except what can be gleaned from the publisher's page. Published by Publisher's Consultants, which was known only as P.O. Box 486, South Laguna, CA 92677.
The covers were distinctive for their powder blue border and crude erotic drawings presented in black and white framed by a terry cloth towel hung on a towel rack (like you might find at a bathhouse). The back cover was white with 'Bathhouse Books' in all caps, sitting above a blued towel hanging on a towel rack, at its center. The authors names are all obvious pseudonyms.
And that's all that I could discover about Bathhouse Books. If you know more, please leave your information in the comments section.
Now, it just so happened that I have an unread copy of the first book printed by this imprint.
And now that I've learned there are only sixteen such books, I have become interested in collecting them all. That may prove difficult, as, no doubt, not many copies of those last few titles exist. We'll see. I found three of the titles while researching this imprint. And while I remain doubtful, I will enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I think that's why collectors become interested in these books - the fun of trying to find them all.

I loved Cynthia, though. She could dance. Wasn't she in Flashdance too?
And these look really, really cheap. No wonder they only lasted a year...
