Well, as stated last week, it is difficult to find out much about the gay porn stars of this particular era and Michael Braun has not proven to be an exception. 

This is our second classic otter, in a series of three. It's a type frequently overlooked in gay porn, but definitely have their share of fans.

I have nothing, save his limited filmography and a list of magazine appearances. Not so much as a birthday.

His profile, as limited as it is, in the October 1987 issue of Advocate Men, claims he was a fashion model in Italian and American magazines, but hard to say if there is any truth to it. These magazine profiles tended to create supposed facts in order to generate interest in a given model; it could be nothing more than hyperbole. 

The same profile later claims that Braun lived in Pennsylvania in "an English Cottage on the banks of The Delaware River," where he raised sheep dogs. Any truth to it? Again, hard to say.

Note: His 1992 appearance in Manshots magazine was part of a film retrospective dealing with glory holes (See: Dangerous). So, don't get your hopes up. Something tells me he was long gone from this world by then. 

He did star in one of my all-time favorite vintage gay porns, 1983's Gold Rush Boys. There were two different magazines published utilizing stills from the movie and I owned them both. The quality of the film and the production values are surprisingly good, given the period. 

One source noted:  "The movie remains distinctive for several reasons, not the least of which were the lush ornate Victorian era sets used, framed within a vintage gingerbread-style mansion. The production crew even used period costumes for the performers. This Steve Scott film stands the test of time, as (do) its stars."

Description from the VHS Box: "In 1849 San Francisco all that glitters isn't gold, but what a rush! In the good old days when California's gold miners had pouches heavy with nuggets and bulges that were even heavier still, Kincaid's was the most popular place to be...in a world without women and filled with sex-starved men. Here, '49ers could get anything they wanted in a house of boys who aimed to please, and did just that. When innocent Kurt Williams shows up looking for work and passes Kincaid's (Braun's) test, he's hired on the spot and joins the house's stable of fresh eager to please boys-for-hire."

His final film, Goodjac Chronicles 2, was a safe sex video. 

Braun, himself, is of note, because he is the king of the otters; with that bushy beard, slim build and all natural body of fur. He didn't even shave his back! 

Because I have no info - not so much as an anecdote or a remembrance or even a birthdate, I have no clue as to how he came to be part of the industry, why his career was so brief (changing tastes?), or what became of him. 

But we do have plenty of images and his films, so his legacy is safe.

Well, they can't all be revelations, now can they?

A bit disappointed, because he is one of my favorites. I love his smile - which you don't get to see much in Gold Rush Boys; he's rather dour and serious throughout that film.

I did what I could with my limited means. I even searched the list of names associated with the AIDS Quilt - just in case. 

Ah, as they say - it is what it is...
