Pointing out the folly of others is a strange pleasure. One does so with a mix of unearned superiority and a bit of gleeful schoolyard zeal. For the subject of today's post, it boils down to one simple truth: you can never escape your past. Period. It's always there, so rather than being haunted by it... why not embrace it? 

That's a question I would love to ask Peter North, a man who spent a number of years starring in gay porn films under the moniker Matt Ramsey. Mr. North doesn't like to be reminded of his past and, should an interviewer bring it up, he has been known to storm out. That bit of denial? That temper? Well, that's what makes him such an interesting subject and the focus of today's Lost Boys post.

Today, we'll be spotlighting the work of Matt Ramsey, an actor who arrived on the scene right at the end of gay porn's golden age. He was handsome, well-endowed and would become quite popular due to a certain talent he possessed.

And though his time in gay porn was relatively brief, he's still well remembered.

And that haunts Peter North. 

Oh, does it haunt him.

Alden Joseph Brown was born May 11, 1957 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Known for his athletic prowess, he's as a former college football star and has been an avid hockey player his entire life.

Moving to California in 1982, North was signed to a small modeling agency. In a 1996 interview with North's hometown newspaper, The Chronicle Herald, he spoke about how he was "discovered," at a private party in Los Angeles while modeling athletic wear. A big player in the adult film industry, whom North did not name, was impressed with North's chiseled physique and gave him a business card. 

At the time, North was reportedly thousands in debt. He saw porn as an easy way to make money and began doing both gay and straight films. He chose to do gay films because they paid more. It wasn't a common practice to have a foot in both worlds, so - to keep things straight, as it were - Matt Ramsey and Peter North were born. 

And so the two would exist, side-by-side until 1989, at which point Peter North took over and immediately began to deny the very existence of Matt Ramsey. 

North only appeared in 20 gay films, working with directors such as Matt Sterling and William Higgins. 

He bottomed and topped and would allow his dick to be sucked, but there is no evidence that he ever sucked a dick on film. 

He also became a popular cover boy for the major mens magazines.

It was hardly the path he'd envisioned. He once said, "I don't think the industry ever was my destiny. People meet me and say, 'You don't seem like a porn star.' I think they had that stereotyped image of porn actors being ugly and slimy and perverted."

When asked where the name Peter North came from, the actor explained, "Your penis is also referred to as your Peter and when you are erect, it faces North. Plus, I am from the North." Later in his career, he would launch a production company called North Pole Entertainment which has produced dozens of films and sells numerous products. North claims that his website reaps 100K a year. 

As for his sexuality, North, despite doing gay porn and appearing in numerous bisexual films, claims to be heterosexual. When questioned about his ability to do gay porn, Ramsey said, "It was not a part of my sexuality at all. I was only able to do it because of my strong mind and my physical ability to have control over my own body."

So assured of his sexuality, in 1994, he  published a guide to meeting and bedding beautiful women entitled Penetrating Insights. 

Right from day one, his output and work ethic were remarkable. In addition to the 11 gay porn films he appeared in during 1984, he also managed to do 26 straight films. And in 1985, he  did a jaw-dropping 86 straight porn films. At that rate? Ramsey was making a straight porn film every four days!

Of note: his scene with Rick Donovan in 1984's Bigger The Better. It caused quite a sensation. Ramsey plays a teacher who gets the tables turned on him when he tries disciplining troubled student Donovan. There's no foreplay. No sucking. Donovan gets right to it, using Ramsey's ass like a cum dumpster. The sex is a bit rough and Ramsey is very vocal about his pleasure while taking it up the ass. Ramsey cums not once, but twice, and with such force and volume that his place in the annuls of gay film was ensured thanks to that one scene. 

Yes. Matt Ramsey had mad skills.

As one pundit put it: "His gay hardcore films are noteworthy for two notable abilities: he could shoot cum for at least three feet or more, and he didn't flinch at taking any cock up his ass, no matter how large." 

That singular talent? Cumming like a shotgun? Would serve him well throughout his storied career.

He also bottomed in 1983's Cousins and 1984's Sizing Up (topped by Jeff Pirelli.) I mention this because Ramsey/North has tried to deny it ever happened. 

Numerous sources have written about Ramsey/North steadfastly denying that he ever bottomed. He even goes far as to claim that a body double was used and that what is seen on screen is not him - a claim that, upon viewing the scene in Bigger The Better, makes utterly no sense at all. To quote one source: "...he denied the scene, claiming that it had been done by a stunt double and trick photography. (North) has long claimed that the infamous classroom scene in which he is royally pounded by Rick Donovan was a complete fake... that the scene was done with special effects and stand-ins."

And speaking of body doubles! Multiple sources claim that, "North continued to 'stunt bottom' for another couple of years. Indeed, gay porn insiders say that you can see his butt being poked in gay porn as late as 1990."

In his 2009 memoir, Breakshot: A Life in the 21st Century American Mafia, Kenny Gallo tells the story of a confrontation with North, who was not pleased that Gallo had been talking about North  having  bottomed in a couple of 1980's era gay porn films. Gallo talked about how "North was very sensitive about that particular period of his life and wanted to keep it secret." Gallo was on the receiving end of a series of threatening phone calls from North in which North told Gallo that he "would pay" if he should continue spreading that particular rumor. 

North's name would also become embroiled in the government's brief investigation into the Traci Lords scandal. If you recall, it was discovered that Lord had not been of age at the time that many of her films were created. North had appeared with her on screen several times. The 1986 investigation went no where and was quickly dropped. In a 1996 interview with Details magazine, North spoke about Lords and his involvement: "Traci Lords didn't do much for me. She reeked sex, looked good and young. But I didn't know that she was that young. When the scandal broke, I thought it was a lot of baloney on her part. She knew what she was doing and she deceived a lot of people. She was sexually aggressive off camera to many people, so the whole 'innocence corrupted' scenario she came up with was a total farce."

North is on record as saying that his favorite on-screen co-stars were Ginger Lynn, Christy Canyon, Jewel, Toni James and P.J. Sparxx. It's hard to say if they would say the same of North. It has been said that on the set, he could be a bit of a prima donna. In one of Jenna Jameson's books she wrote about the fact that he would "never let any of his co-stars touch or pull on his hair while they're filming their scenes. No one touches the hair."

He actually ended up marrying one of his co-stars. In the Summer of 2014, he wed Nadia North. They have appeared together and performed in several films. The millionaire couple used to split their time between their home in Orange County and the two condos they own in Hawaii.  

However, this fairy tale took a bit of a dark turn.

From Wikipedia:

"On July 15, 2019, TMZ reported that Nadia North was granted a restraining order against her husband following two episodes of domestic violence in June of that year. One of the incidents reportedly left her with a concussion, and she alleges that there have been a total of about 20 such violent encounters with North."

Yes. Quite a legacy. And doesn't he have a way with the ladies?

Still, you have to hand it to him. From 1983-2017, North has appeared in a total of 2,588 films. His meticulous devotion to health and his many hours spent in the gym have contributed mightily to his longevity and his overt sex appeal. North is a holdover from the glamorous days of porn, but has out-distanced many of his contemporaries.

He officially retired from the industry in 2017.
