This week we continue our ten-part series of posts dedicated to Adam's Gay Reader's.

Adam's Gay Reader's were released under the Surey Books banner, and published from 1983-1991. Whether this imprint is related to other Surrey publications remains to be seen.

The books were distributed by Star Distributors, which operated out of a P.O. Box  (P.O. Box 36) at the Canal Street Station in New York City, NY.  

A total of 155 titles were published, all featuring distinctively soft, but gay-erotic illustrations, all in a watercolor-like style.

Described by The Book Merchant Jenkins as:

"One of the many gay erotic pulp novels produced in the mid to late 20th century. These short sexually explicit stories, many of which were formulaic and published in easily recognizable series with graphically illustrated covers and titillating titles each targeting a specific sexual niche, demonstrate the breadth of sexual fantasy, occupation, desire, and deviance of the emerging homosexual culture."

Guys are still cruising other dudes in mens rooms. As pictured, you have your classic urinal signal... a little side shot while unzipping while catching the eye of a potential trick. Thing is, these days, unless he was spending an inordinate amount of time washing his hands, the other dude would have no excuse to be hanging around, hiding in the can.

This is the first of a series of five books. Yes, Jerry apparently has more than one 'first' love. And who among us doesn't? You can fall in love with a person for so many reasons and I suppose each could be considered a first. Me? I've fallen in love because of the way a guy kisses. Because of his dick. Because I felt sorry for him. Because he made me laugh... on and on the list goes.

Thing here that would get my attention? That prominent package our titular Jerry seems to be sporting in those tiny jogging shorts. Yes... that would do the trick.

Jerry's affections would appear to be moving on to an authority figure. Been there, done that. Power is intoxicating. Add a significant age difference and its balls to the wall time.

As pictured, this is a classic gay porn trope waiting to happen. The authority figure is in the midst of reprimanding Jerry for some offence, while Jerry only has eyes for the man's bulge. Either Jerry then does a subtle dick slip out the side of those little yellow shorts of his, or the authority figure notices Jerry's inattention and wants to know if Jerry wants to continue to fantasize about it or see it first hand.

In the end? That desk blotter is going to need some blotting, for sure. Because you damn good and well that someone is getting fucked on top of that desk!

This isn't exactly this imprints best cover. Take a look at the previous cover and this one. The clarity and detail is lacking and so is the depth. My other problem with this one? I have no idea what is supposed to be happening. Part of the issue may have to do with the scan, but something tells me more than one artist is at work here.

Ah, a little dorm room fun. That space between those twin beds looks to be put to good use. It also appears to have a number of suspicious stains! As an adolescent, I was so guilty of leaving evidence behind. It simply didn't occur to me. I thought it would evaporate or something, but, no... after a point, that carpet can get a little crunchy. Eeek! And then it's an easy case of you-know-who has been doing you-know-what.

What a great illustration. Very suggestive without being blatant and the artwork is first rate. Yeah, due to the fact that most cops are racist, homophobic dickheads certainly does impact my ability to indulge in this particular gay porn sub-genre. I used to love posting photo collections of porn cops. But... I'm not feeling it these days, so I always look for something else to occupy space on this blog. Still... this one looks mighty tasty.
