Acquired Tastes XLIII: Gay Pulp Fiction, Part 86 - HIS69, Part 15 of 20

Acquired Tastes XLIII
Gay Pulp Fiction, Part 86
HIS69, Part 15 of 20

And the countdown continues... five more posts for this imprint.

The HIS69 imprint was active from 1971 thru 1988, delivering an astounding 240 titles. Surrey House, Inc. / Surree Ltd, Inc. of San Diego and Santee, California are responsible for this imprint which was distributed by the same company as Trojan Books, Manhard Books, Gay Books and Gay Way Books; the Zorro Distribution Company, also operating out of San Diego.

It should be noted that many of these titles, with original artwork included, were simultaneously republished under the Gay Books imprint and then, later, minus the artwork, were also republished under the ManPower imprint.

The artwork for the HIS69 books would go through only two minor shifts with all the covers featuring ink drawings by various uncredited illustrators - artwork quite similar to what we saw with the Manhard imprint.

Here are the next twelve titles. This week, once again, I was able to track down all twelve.

School Meat
Author Bob Cochran
HIS69169

Another second printing! Well, based on the illustration, I assume we're talking about college, here. Yet another great illustration. There's something about the men drawn. They're all of a type - like Ken Dolls, with the testosterone ramped up to eleven.

Backfield In Motion
Author: Thumper Johnson
HIS69170

A copy of this one recently came up on eBay and sold for a pretty penny. I've been monitoring which titles grab the most bucks. It seems anything sports related (football, wrestling), anything to do with Daddy/Chicken/Son play, and anything to do with leather or BDSM seem to incite the most competition.

The average sell price is $25.00 - $34.00. However, the more sought after ones, for this imprint, go between $52.00 and $80.00. This is not an imprint I am interested in collecting, as I am a completest and with 240 titles published, that is one tail I do not wish to chase.

Hard Driver
Author: Peter Pepper
HIS69171

I can't make head or tail of this illustration. Its that shoe sole above the dark-haired man's right shoulder; who does that belong to, why is it there, and where does it come from? If you can make sense of it, leave your answer in the comments section.

Chicken Trick
Author: Samuel West
HIS69172

Last week we had Tricking The Chicken, along with Tied Chicken and Chicken Trainer. This week, another three titles. These 'chickens' sure require a great deal of attention. Not my preference at all. Obviously, such titles sold well, which would explain why there were so many published using that 'trigger' word. They certainly attract a lot of attention on eBay these days. Me? I don't get it. Puppies are fun, but a lot of work.

Hard Plowin'
Author: Larry St. John
HIS69173

Along with long johns and jock straps, I find denim overhauls to be sexy AF. Sure, hunky farmers look great in them (especially sans shirt), but granola types carry them off, too - especially when they wear nothing underneath. I had a pair. And planned to wear them to the prairie a few years ago, and I did - once. Once was enough. I felt like I was wearing a costume. I also spent the entire day wishing I was nude instead.

Black In White
Author: Franz George
HIS69174

Back in the days of the golden age of porn, such relationships were still considered somewhat taboo and, therefore, fetishized. Today? Puh-leeeze! While this little tome is probably brimming with the sort of hand-wringing 'what will the neighbors think?' types used to bother with, these days no one bats an eye. I rather adore the melding of all the races, though I doubt if we'll survive long enough as a species to see the day when everyone is every race. Me? Oh, honeys, I do my share of melding... mmm hmm.

First-Time Chicken
Author: Stuart Rowen
HIS69175

More chicken. This time? A virgin chicken? Eek. Perhaps a guide on how to 'groom?' Eek.

I do like this illustration. First off, I adore denim cut-offs. I think they are super hot. Not on moi, but on others. Oh, back in the day? I had a pair and wore them quite well. But after a certain age? It comes off as trying too hard.

I will never forget this one time, in summer stock, I was running through light cues with the person who would be running our light board - a local volunteer. He was very young and had on a pair of cut-offs that were obscene, leaving nothing to the imagination. It was summer, and hot in the booth, despite the air conditioning. As I was seated at the light board, he stood beside me, pressing his obviously erect penis against the light board - over and over again. I couldn't concentrate! Today? I imagine exactly what I would do in a similar situation, but back then? I was, aware, but terrified. Sigh. My loss. His, too.

Oh, the other thing I like about this illustration is the dark, curly haired one in the foreground. He's what I call 'a pony boy.' And I'm not sure where I got the phrase or what it originally was supposed to be imply, but, for me, it has always meant someone exactly as pictured on the cover of this book. I dunno. I guess I just imagine him riding up and down with that curly mass of his bobbing in the wind?

Gang-Bang Bikers
Author: Gene Murray
HIS69176

Such a fantasy! And, of course, if everyone is on the same page and consent is not an issue, then balls to the walls, boys!

Personally? I would love an opportunity to help either of these studs remove their boots. Although, for what I have in mind? Perhaps it would be best if they leave them on!

--- ---

Daddy's Chicken
Author: Saxby L. Charles
HIS69177

And now, Daddy's Chicken! From the looks of it, this Daddy has himself a pair of twins. That's an awful lot to handle, but he appears to be studly enough to handle it.

Hmm. In the early 1940's there was a popular mystery writer named Charles Saxby . His works include: Death In The Sun, Even Bishops Die, Out Of It All, Death Over Hollywood, Death Cuts The Film, etc. I wonder...

BTW: This one was up for auction on eBay last week and, last I looked, was at $208.50! with half a day yet to bid.

Lickin' Lad
Author: Samuel West
HIS69178

A few weeks back, we had Chicken Lickin' and now, Lickin' Lad.

This Lickin' Lad? Sounds like my kind of super hero!

--- ---

S&M Slave
Author: Michael Scott
HIS69179

Ah, another biker fantasy. Combined with the whole 'slave' fantasy. Two for the price of one? Fascinating rear view - a rarity for these covers. Such pert buttocks! Apparently its one of the benefits one gets gripping the seat of your hog as you tool on down the highway. All that power between your legs? Grrr.

--- ---

Truckstop Hunk
Author: Bob Hancock
HIS69180

Another favorite gay trope. The truck stop! Tails of lot lizards trolling big rigs for a little something something. Clandestine meetings in the trucker showers. A glory hole carved into the graphic graffiti filled stall wall of the mens room. Sigh. Yes. Those were the days!

--- ---

And that's all for today, my friends.

Next week we will take a look at the next twelve titillating titles.

And keep in mind, we have only 10 weeks to go before moving on to a new imprint.

Thanks for reading.

I'm going to take a stab by saying, it looks like a boot to me and, perhaps, he's got his cock shoved into it. IDK....
