Lost Boys: Vintage Images of Kyle Hazard

Lost Boys: Vintage Images of Kyle Hazard

When one thinks of vintage gay porn, Kyle Hazard is hardly the first name to spring to mind. But thanks to his early work for Target Studios and its subsequent reissue as part of Bullet Productions' Videopac series, his image is firmly affixed to the era.

And what an image!

This curly-topped, muscle hunk became a gay porn staple and Target Studios regular because he oozed sex appeal while perfectly representing the rugged, masculine gay population.

Put him in a pair of boots, a leather wrist band and a biker's hat? Paradise found! Yes, the leather boys all loved him... such were the rough charms of Kyle Hazard.

That's why he appeared with all the top names of the day - Tim Kramer, Eric Ryan, Mark Anthony, and Rod Mitchell, to name but a few.

So, who was the man behind that perfect pornstache?

Let's see what we can learn...

AKA:
Kyle Hazzard, Edward Izzo, Eduardo
Birth: March 29, 1948
Birth Place: Chicago, IL
Death: January 16, 1988

Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height: 6'3" (also reported as 5'10")
Weight: 200

Years Active: 1982-1986
Films: 6
Compilations: 3
Studios: Bullet Productions, HIS, Falcon

Edward Izzo was born in Chicago, IL on March 29, 1948. Very little is known about his early life. During the the 1970's, he reportedly found himself an older boyfriend with great taste who treated him well. The boyfriend bought him a red Ferrari - not a car that was all that common back then.

As the decade progressed, he made his way west. As with most such performers, he began his career in the gay porn industry doing photo shoots. His unique looks and stature made him a regularly featured model for Target Studios. Target typically shot short, outdoor films, called loops. Images from these loops, augmented with the exceptional still photography of Lou Thomas, were then packaged and sold in glossy magazines.

It was at this point that he adopted the stage name, Kyle Hazard. He would also appear under the alias 'Eduardo' in the pages of Blueboy Magazine and as Kyle Hazzard for Falcon Films.

Among the shorts he filmed for Target studio is Sailor Beware featuring a very young Tim Kramer. This would serve as Kramer's one and only scene where he bottomed. As one critic put it, "Hazard does the honors, and he's not gentle!" Others include: Mating Games with Mark Anthony, Duo-Better In Bed (AKA Bush Hog) featuring Eric Ryan, and House Boat, costarring Rod Mitchell. All of these shorts would eventually find their way onto video store shelves courtesy of Bullet Productions and their various 'Videopac' series.

In the early 1980's, Bullet Productions acquired the rights to all of Target Studios output. They would reintroduce these shorts to a whole new audience.

Bullet Videopacs were a collection of 8mm short films called 'loops' which were shown in the private viewing booths of adult bookstores. Originally produced by Target Studio during the late 70's and early 80's, these films were gathered and released under the brand names Bullet Videopac and Bullet Gold during the early to mid 1980's. Spruced up with new intertitles, new music soundtracks and occasional voice work, some of the shorts were also given new titles. Each Bullet Videopac consisted of four loops - shown in their entirety, while Bullet Gold compilations contained edited versions of the various loops - grouped according to a certain sex act or fetish, such as oral, rimming, or anal.

Bullet (Target) shorts feature a consistent look, emphasizing attractive outdoor settings and mature, masculine, rugged men. Many of the same performers appear repeatedly throughout the series, chief among them: Hazard, and other Target model such as Rod Mitchell, Josh Kincaid, and Jeremy Brent. In addition, a number of performers, courtesy of Hand in Hand and Surge studios, are featured,  such as Nick Rogers, Will Seagers, Tim Kramer, Bruno, Roger, and Eric Ryan.

When Hazard left the porn industry in 1986, he returned to his native Chicago where he found work as a bartender at a number of gay bars, including the legendary Gold Coast Bar - the United States' first leather bar.

Hazard died January 16, 1988 in San Diego, CA from complications due to AIDS.

He was 39 years old.

I always get so excited once I find a birthdate and place. I automatically assume that more information will be forthcoming, but that was not true in the case of Kyle Hazard. I couldn't locate what I would consider one true tribute to this iconic figure.

Which is rather surprising, for based on the numerous comments I read on-line, the man still has his fans. And, as you can see below, the internet has plenty to offer when it comes to his photos and films. I had no trouble finding plenty of images of this rather elusive star.

And that's the beauty of the internet... here?

They live forever.

That's all for now.

Thank you for reading.

Well, 75" of hot man indeed!
You see, if a man like this would give his attention to me, it would be head down ass up in no time. Seriously. These men from that long gone era of porn were absolutely magnetic. The bodies seemed less created and more the bodies of men who actually used them. I love the mustache, too. I would have died with me serving me a drink in a gay bar in 1986. I totally understand why he got that Ferrari.

XOXO

I remember loops and booths and glory holes at the 'dirty bookstores'. The black and white photos of this man and the various scenes are fabulous.
6'3"...wow!

He started in the industry at an advanced age - considering the norm. Don't recognize his name, or him. But he had that classic Bruno look, didn't he?
