Acquired Tastes XLIII:
Gay Pulp Fiction, Part 166
Gay Novel, Part 2 of 2
This is a Greenleaf Classics imprint - which surprised me, because not only is is part of the classic era (1959 to 1975) - but they are NOT listed on the go-to site regarding the history of this publisher; a strange oversight on the part of the creators of that site, for it's rather comprehensive and well-done. I'm going to assume its accidental.
Needless to say, very little is known about the imprint which published 20 titles in 1973 and operated out of a building at 3511 Camino Del Rio South in San Diego, CA.
In that short period of time, they did go through three distinct cover designs... actually reverting to the second one for a couple of covers, before going back to the third concept.
We're going to finish up with this imprint today - ten titles, for which I found eight covers.

Julian Mark is none other than best-selling mystery writer Vincent Lardo. Writing gay pulp fiction is how he got started in the business. He has a total of six gay pulp novels under his belt, before moving on to mysteries and then taking over the Archy McNally series, after author Lawrence Sanders' death. He returned to this genre in 2013 with The Jock Strap Murders.

And that's all we have for Greenleaf Classics' Gay Novel imprint.
Next week: more vintage gay pulp fiction covers from a classic imprint.
Until then... thanks for reading!

Ha!
Love Charli
And these covers are hot, not very subtle in the phallic camp, so I'm all for it.
XOXO
so precious books!
Well, for what it's worth, I've just added Bugger and Bummer Boy to my shopping list but if they're as rare as you say they are, I'm not feeling too optimistic. Never hurts to look though!!
