Acquired Tastes LXIII: Gay Pulp Fiction - Part Six: Companion Book: Aaron Thomas and Others

Acquired Tastes LXIII: Gay Pulp Fiction
Part Six: Companion Book
Aaron Thomas and Others

Today, we finish up taking a look at the rest of the twenty gay-oriented titles published between December of 1967 and April of 1968 by Greenleaf Classics under the Companion Book imprint. To learn more about Companion Books, click here

Three by Aaron Thomas

We've seen other works by Aaron. Find his other books: here.

The Greek Affair
Cover Art: Darrell Millsap

My goodness they sure have modern hair cuts for ancient Greece. Forward-thinking barbers, perhaps? Wait a minute. If this is ancient Greece, exactly what kind of neighborhood are they wrestling around in? Place looks like a dump. And who is the bodacious brunette babe in the white bikini? Is that... Barbara Perkins? And why is that young man wearing a yellow jock? Oh, I bet FletchingPisser could enlighten us. Hmmm. The Greek way, huh?  Who knew they like themselves a nice liquid blanket?

Senator Swish
Cover Art: Darrell Millsap
"He won the gay vote by a sinslide!"

A sinslide, huh? Hee hee. Great. Now I have a new name for my hole. Gee. What a timely novel. Think of all the closeted politicians this brings to mind: Lindsey Grahamcrackers, Larry 'Tappity Tap Tap' Craig, Ed 'No Shock' Schrock, Jim 'Demerit Badge' West, Mark Foley, et al. Love the Senator's white James Bond-inspired suit coat and the peek-a-boob dress his swell-coiffed beard is wearing.  And... wait. Are those guys standing behind them The Beatles circa 1964? The one on the right sure looks like stinky-faced Paul.

The Beatles Circa 1964

Gay Traders
Cover Art: Robert Bonfils
"The trouble with swap is where to stop!"

Bull market, indeed! So, this is a story about inside trading? Right? Just how 'inside' are we talking? Gee, they must work up quite a sweat running around that market pit. And isn't that nice of them to invite the gals from the typing pool? Hmm, something tells me industry secrets aren't the only thing they are going to be slipping each other. It's okay, though. The Red Door Clinic will fix 'em right up.

Lance Lester is one of five pseudonyms for Disney writer George Davies. Check out one of his other titles here.

Cruising Horny Corners
Author: Lance Lester
Cover Art: Darrell Millsap
"Young Johnny had a gay old time..."

Hey, Johnny... Coach wants to put you in... but not in the game. Well, it's a game of sorts. Let's call it hide and seek. He's going to hide in his office with the blinds closed and you're going to seek him out. Tell him you 'pulled a muscle'.  He'll know exactly which one you're talking about. See him sitting behind his desk wearing only a jock strap? Yeah, something tells me he's about to pull that same muscle. Hey, maybe you could help each other out and, you know... 'generate' some team spirit. But stay outta the showers. That didn't exactly go over well at Penn State.

Gene North has six titles in this genre to his credit. You can check out one of them here.

Daddy's Boy
Cover Art: Darrell Millsap
Author: Gene North

Hmmm. Not sure what to say about this one. I know that currently the term 'Daddy' has a certain definition within the gay community. But has that always been the case? Without the term Sugar attached, I am not sure what to think. Also, I know there are lots of folks who love role play and what takes place between two consenting adults is their business... But there is a certain 'ick' factor that kicks in when I consider the year this came out. I dunno. Do we take it at face value? What's between those covers? Let's assume they aren't related. Let's assume this is some random Fire Island hook-up and that a half hour later neither 'Daddy' nor 'Junior' will remember the other's first name, let alone, share a last one

This is one of three gay-oriented offerings written by Tony Calvano (Thomas J. Ramirez). His others include Roll Call In Sodom for the Late Hour Library imprint and the curiously titled Under Five Fags.

The Fairy Goddess
Cover Art: Robert Bonfils
Author: Tony Calvano
"He found love in the arms of..."

Hmmm. Looks like somebody is at war with himself. Poor Mr. Passing-For-Straight. His right arm is all for embracing his Fairy Goddess, but his left arm wants nothing to do with her at all. That, and his right eye is looking like it wants to escape his head altogether. And why? Could it be all those overly tan, taut cellulite-imbued man muscles encased in that pair of sheer lacy panties? Or is it that cheap add-on fall this tacky queen is trying to pass off as her own hair? In any case, I'm sure this one has a happy ending. Well, she's a G.D. Fucking Fairy Goddess fer chrissakes. A wave of that wand? Bitch gets what she wants!

Chris Davidson (Chris Davies) wrote three titles for Greenleaf Classic Adult Book Series, as presented here

The Fellows Backstage
Cover Art: Darrell Millsap
Author: Chris Davidson
"Marc lavished his twisted talents on..."

Look at her! This one hangs heavily to the left. Oh. I worked with this queen. You know the type. Refuses to wear anything the costumer gives him to wear unless it's bedazzled and shows off his midriff. Has a physique that more posture and iron will than muscle. Will wear tights, but NOT the cod piece. Assumes that every role requires blue eye shadow. Emotes to the rear of the house like she's Sarah fucking Bernhardt. And chews the scenery like its made out of foreskins (something she practices backstage, as well). You never want to be in a production this bitch has a lead in because she's never met a moment she couldn't steal or upstage. Like Streisand singing a duet, always oooo-ing and ahh-ing in the background, in order to call attention to herself. Pirates of Penzance?  More like Butt Pirate Pants-less!

This bitch wrote the book on chewing
foreskin... er, I mean, scenery
.

Don Holliday (our beloved Victor J. Banis). More on him, here and next week!

Holiday Gay
Cover Art: Robert Bonfils
Author: Don Holliday
"That man from C.A.M.P. comes for Christmas"

Based on the tagline, you can see this is actually part of the C.A.M.P. series, featuring Bond-like-gay-gent Jackie Holmes. I bet Santa and all those dirty little elves make for a great super villain. I also assume it's a story about all the typical erotic going-ons up there in Santa's Village. You know those elves? They sure lick a mean candy cane. Poor Mrs. Claus, having to wash the stains out of all those green tights. Well, how else do you think it got the name the North Pole?

--- ---

Julian Mark (best-selling author Vince Lardo) is at again. You may remember him from when we took a look at Adult Book's Bath Boy.

Midtown Queen
Cover Art: Darrell Millsap
Author: Julian Mark
"He muscled his way in as a..."

Hmm. Not sure I would like this gym. I take it the place is crawling with bottoms, because all the boys pictured are on their backs. Forget the two queens in the foreground... I have my eye on the dandy in the white speedo doing the flat bench dumbbell press. Yeah, he's got his legs spread, but then... when I'm on Viagra? I can work with that.

--- ---

His Kind of Love's Len Harrington is at it again. I promise more on him later in this series of posts.

We Three Queens
Cover Art: Robert Bonfils
Author: Len Harrington

Three queens? I am seeing at least five different hands attempting to liberate this hunk from his white beach shorts. See how considerate of the other beach goers they are being? Covering Mr. Hunky's mouth so they don't have to hear his giggles. Or should that be screams?  Hmm. I am going to assume its all consensual. Something we know they had a good handle on back then... right? Consent? Hmmm. But the math... how does five go into one? Gee, I hope Mr. Hunky's got an engineering degree... cuz that bitch about to pull a train!

--- ---

That does it for the Companion Book imprint. Up next, we'll take a look at Don Holliday's iconic Man From C.A.M.P. Series. Keep reading!

I have long toyed with the idea of writing gay fiction - just never know how smutty it should be. LOL!
