Wonderland Burlesque's The 12 Days Before Xmas - Day Eight / Aqua

Wonderland Burlesque's
The 12 Days Before Xmas - Day Eight
Aqua

Oh, dear, sometimes things do overstay their welcome. Yes, everything should have a shelf date. Not a best used by date... no. We are talking expiration, folks. As in... do not consume after this date.

Aqua, a Danish/Norwegian Euro-pop group that took the world by storm with a little ditty called Barbie Girl, has, during the course of their career, sold over 33 million albums. They remain Denmark's most profitable music group - ever. That damn song went #1 in no less than ten countries (!) and managed to hit #7 here in the U.S. (most likely on the strength of it's other-worldly video).

Needless to say... they remain huge stars in Denmark, where they've hit #1 seven times. And though they have taken time off from time-to-time, they are, to this day, still pushing out product.

Their holiday offering, 2009's Spin Me A Christmas, was lifted from their greatest hits album (yes... imagine - a whole album of 'hits') and, while no Barbie Girl, the song and accompanying video are, indeed, pure Aqua.

So, if drunken Santa's, creepy, dead-eyed elves (mechanical and otherwise), a watered-down ramp-up lifted directly from The Black-Eyed Peas, an ooh-ooh'd bridge stolen from a Cyndi Lauper classic, and bleached teeth for days scream "Happy Holidays" to you? Then you've come to the right place. Hit the play button and get ready to have your holly truly dazzled!
